The day of the City Festivities in Caldas da Rainha, Silver Coast
Happening on the 14th of May
As usual, on the celebrations of the Day of the City in Caldas da Rainha, there is always a big music concert and fire works all for FREE, taking place in the square in front of the Town Hall.
This year the festivities big concert will count with the presence of the portuguese group DEOLINDA: http://www.deolinda.com.pt/cancaoaolado/
This will take place around 11pm, but the concert will start with a local group at 10 pm.
The fire works start at midnight.
This a local holiday, and public services will be closed on the following day, the 15th of May.

Tomorrow, Portugal celebrates the 25th of April! It is the celebration of Freedom for the Portuguese people, after living since 1933 under an authoritarian dictatorship regime that ended in 1974, with a military coup called the "Revolução dos Cravos - Carnation Revolution ".
The Portuguese lived under constant opression during all this period without access to education & freedom of speech.
With the Revolution the colonial war also ended and the independence and freedom was recognized to the Portuguese former colonies such as: Portuguese Guinea, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Angola, São Tomé e Principe & East Timor.

Around Portugal, each council celebrates this day with diferent events.
A curious fact was that in a couple of hour/days the regime went down after a great organization of the military to which the people joined, there were two signs that were based on musics broadcasted in the radio:

New service rental bike was launched in Caldas da Rainha, Silver Coast
New service rental bike was launched in Caldas da Rainha - Silver Coast
Bike sharing arrived to the Silver Coast, with a new service launched by the council of Caldas da Rainha.
The aim is to share bikes for different points distributed in several locations.
So soon you may pick up a bike in the city use it for some hours and hand it back in the station in Foz Arelho or even Nadadouro.
The service will count until the end of May with at least 14 stations were you can pick / handle back a bike. Durng the month of May, the service in Foz will be limited to the weekend days, but starting June the organization counts on having the stations operating every days from at leat 10 am to 7 pm.
The prices for this service are really low considering the benefits:
Full morning Rental - 1 Eur.
Full day Rental - 2,50 Eur.
There are also Year and Weekly subscriptions which represent even a bigger saving.
The service was launched with 100 bikes, but the plan is to have 300 bikes active until the end of this Summer.
